A signing sextet: Molalla athletes head to college
A sextet of Molalla athletes will be making the step into the next level of competition.
On Wednesday, May 22 seniors Grace Higginbotham, Sidney Perkin, Litzy Ramos, Michael House, Nicolas Lucas, and Emma Andrews all signed letters of intent to compete for their respective colleges.
Higginbotham and Perkin were both members of the schools volleyball team. Higginbotham earned second team all-league honors this past year. The team put together a 5-15 overall record, including a 3-7 Tri-Valley Conference record. Perkin signed with Lewis & Clark College, and Higginbotham signed with Clackamas Community College.
Litzy Ramos finished her high school athletic career with the girls' soccer team, a squad that was half a win away from a conference championship. While the team fell short in the championship hunt, Molalla's girls' soccer team has consistently been among the top 10 in the state. Ramos signed her deal with Multnomah University.
A trio of hurdlers for Molalla are headed to various colleges for the next level of competition. Lucas, Andrews, and House all qualified for the 4A state championships this year, and will be looking to build upon their success. House will be headed to Clackamas Community College; Lucas is headed to Mt. Hood Community College, the site of the state championships; and Andrews will be competing with the Wildcats at Linfield College.
