Friday night match continued a tradition of tough tussles with Culver; Colton looks to final 3 matches

Culver has always been a tough team to deal with on the volleyball court, a trend that played out again Friday night as the Colton Vikings dropped a 3-0 match on the road.

"Culver has always been a tough team," coach Shannon Weinberger said. "Our wins against them last year have been a highlight of our past seasons. This year was no exception, they played tough and smart."

"We had a good run, especially in the first set," Weinberger added. "At one point I could smell a victory, but a few errors and our demeanor changed."

The Vikings got a solid match from Madelyn Robinson, who served at a 95 percent clip, with a trio of aces on the night. Maddy Pierce had a high attack percentage and Hailee Hordichok played a well rounded game serving, assists, defense and offense.

"Volleyball being such a momentum game, it just wouldn't give us any grace," Weinberger said.

Colton picks up its season on Monday, March 29 at Kennedy, the first of three games that week (NCC on March 31 and Dayton on April 2).
