An extra match added in the final week provides playing time for some, a chance to notch another win

A match against Cascade Tuesday night, added to the schedule late, allowed Molalla boys soccer coach Ryan Gates a chance to give playing time to some players who hadn't gotten a ton this season.

And in the process, Molalla secured a 4-0 win over the Cougars.

"We opened the scoring off a good passing sequence eight minutes into the game that allowed Aldo Avila to score on a point-blank shot," Gates said.

Molalla extended the lead to 2-0 from the penalty spot.

"Evan Hugo was played behind the defense and the Cascade defender fouled him to not allow him to get a shot off. Evan then took the ensuing penalty kick for our second goal," Gates said. "Our third goal came off a corner kick right around the 20-minute mark of the first half. The kick was taken by Antuan Peterson and found Hugo at the back post and he was able to head the ball into the back of the net."

Avila would tally the fourth and final goal of the match when got a good pass from Alex Rojas that put him behind the defense just before half.

"The second half was a good half for us as we created multiple chances but we were not able to find the back of the net," Gates said.
