Dual meet with Madras offers look at some quality performances early on as season is just getting started

The Molalla High track team got its squeezed 2021 season underway Wednesday in a dual meet with Madras.

Elizabeth Grandle had a big day, winning the 100 meters (14.05 seconds), the 100 high hurdles (17.71), and the long jump at 15-feet, 9 ¼-inches. She was also second in the high jump with a leap of 4-10.

Here's a look at other top performers in the meet.


Paulina Beteran won the 200 meters (29.15) and was second in the 100 (14.07). Kaenlee Greer was second in the 200 (29.56), Ella Duckworth second in the 800 (3:10.63), and Audra McGrath was second in the javelin. Paige Gump added a win the 800 meters (3:07.15)

On the boys side, Riley Reynolds and Benjamin Suarez were double winners on the day. Reynolds captured the 400 meters (56.58) and 3,000 (10:51.65), while Suarez won the shot (37-1 ½) and discus (105-10).

Also putting in good shifts were Brayden Cunningham, who won the 100 (11.79) and was second in the 200 (24.67); Lonnie Hester Lloyd, who won the 1,500 (5:12.07), and joined Clay Sperl, Noah Roth, and Kadyn Eaves in winning the 4x400 relay (4:24.69).

Blake Olsen won the javelin (124-4) and was followed in second by Cole Beyer (120-9), Gabriel Aasland and Olsen tied for the win in the high jump at 4-10. Olsen also captured the triple jump (36-11) and was second in the long jump at 18-2 ½.

In the team scores, Madras won both ends – 219 to 140 on the girl's side; 303.5 to 230.5 on the boys.
