Coach Nikolas Mason is short on experience as it opens its season with a win, then big losses in double-header

After opening with a big win, the Colton High baseball team struggled in a Wednesday double-header against Culver.

The Vikings opened this shortened 2021 spring season with a 10-4 win over Country Christian/North Clackamas Christian on Monday. But, the going for this inexperienced team was much tougher against Culver, resulting in 19-2 and 15-2 losses.

"We have a lot of guys on our team, but we are very inexperienced," coach Nikolas Mason said. "It showed (Wednesday). But I'm excited about our guys and they're all excited to learn the game.

"They kept positive throughout getting beat up pretty badly for two games (Wednesday)," Mason added. "We have a lot to learn."

That learning process continues Monday with a trip to Western Christian, who will make a return trip for another game Wednesday. On Friday, Sheridan will pay a visit.
