Molalla-area swimmers Marie Mason and Violet Bickford compete at the 11-over state championships in Pendleton

Molalla-area swimmers had a good showing at the recent 11-over state championships in Pendleton.

Marie Mason won the 200 individual medley for the 14-year-old age group and was third in the 200 and 100 backstroke. She also swam the 100 freestyle (10th), 400 free (10th) and the 800 free (sixth).

Mason also teamed up with swimmers from Legacy Aquatic, which is a new club formed by the merger of Blue Crush Aquatic (Parkrose), David Douglas Aquatic (SE Portland), and Oregon City Swim Team (which includes some Molalla swimmers). She swam in the 13-14 age group relays that finished fourth in the 200 medley, 200 and 400 free relays, as well as the 400 medley relay that finished third.

Violet Bickford swam two events and one relay, finishing third in the 13-year-old 50 fly, ninth in the 100 fly, and her 13-14 relay finished 11th in the 800 free relay.
