The Cougars snag a second place in the boys team race, while Molalla would end up with a fourth place finish

The Country Christian cross country team got its season off to a nice start with a second place boys team finish at the Canby Invitational Thursday afternoon at Molalla River State Park with 54 points.

Leading the way was Cooper Halverson, who placed 13th overall with a time of 19 minutes, 47.21 seconds. He was closely followed by Elijah Wallbaum in 15th (20:15.09), and Josh Davis in 18th (20:36.63). Lonnie Hester ran a time of 21:58.98 to finish 23rd, Timothy Ewing was 27th in 22:13.05, and Casey Ives traversed the course in 22:25.52, good enough for 31st.

Country Christian's lone girl competitor, Ella Duckworth, was 12th in 29:40.78.

The Indians were one of only four teams on the boys side that were able to field a full varsity squad, scoring 90 points, good enough for fourth.

Leading the effort was Colton Strohmeyer, who was 20th overall in 20:43.61. Lucas Berreth was 32nd (22:32.26), Clayton Huitt was 33rd (22:36.26), Osten Terry was 34th (22:39.46), and Jecel Cortes was 37th in 24:07.71.
