Colton volleyball drops first two matches
The Colton High volleyball team dropped a pair of contests last week, including a league-opening five-setter to Kennedy on Sept. 9.
The match was a back-and-forth affair that the Trojans were able to break through in the fifth set for the win.
Laina West led the Vikings with nine kills, followed by Sydney Earls. Abby Behrens and Cierra Ridenour were all over the floor defensively for Colton, and Behrens even chipped in with four service aces.
On Sept. 10, the Vikings took on North Clackamas Christian School, falling in three sets, 8-25, 12-25 and 17-25.
"NCCS was a very solid team," coach Shannon Weinberger said. "Their high tempo and tough serving made it very difficult to run an offense."
West and Behrens served well from the spot throughout the match, with Behrens also putting some solid defensive work in the match.
"Kiley Spalinger and Sydney Earls led in Kills," the coach said.
Colton gets back in action Sept. 14-15 with a visit from Gervais, then a road trip to Santiam.
