A 6-0 win opened league play Sept. 21 for the Molalla boys soccer team.

The Indians hosted Madras and made quick work of their guests as they opened Tri -Valley Conference play on a high note.

"The boys played well, winning 6-0," coach Ryan Gates said. "Goals came in the second minute from Antuan Peterson after he put a lot of pressure on the defense, forcing a turnover and then scoring the goal."

That would be the first of many as the second goal came four minutes later when Evan Hugo was played in behind the Madras defense by a slick pass from Nico Algoso del Agua. From there the route was on.

"Evan Hugo added another goal, Nico then added his own goal to the tally sheet," Gates said. "Then a header by Dakota Burke off a corner, which was taken by Antuan Peterson."

The final goal came just before half by Jayden Nguyen when he also capitalized on a defensive mistake and rippled the back of the Madras net.

The Indians continue league play Sept. 23 when Corbett visits, then take a trip to Estacada on Sept. 27.

Molalla 6, Corbett 0

Molalla snagged a second league win Sept. 23 with another 6-0 win, this time over Corbett. The win pushed Molalla's league mark to 2-0 (3-3 overall) as the season heads to the midway point.

"The boys cruised to the victory with five goals in the first half and one in the second half," coach Ryan Gates said. "Evan Hugo scored three, then we had three different scorers in Nico Algoso, Evan McEachran, and Ulysses Ramos each getting one."

it was McEachran's first varsity goal "as he has been one of our defenders for most of his career. It was a great week but there are still a lot of things to work on," Gates said.
