Hewlett and Steach bring back gold on the girls side, while Salvetti snags silver during 12-team event

The Molalla High wrestling team got its season started over the weekend at the Estacada Tournament Dec. 4.

The Indians came away with a trio of placers in the 12-team tournament that featured several teams from the Class 6A and 5A ranks.

In all, 11 Molalla wrestlers took to the mats and a trio came away with high placings.

On the girls side, Haley Hewlett took first at 138 pounds, recording three pins on the way to her title. Faith Steach snagged a championship at 125 pounds, recording a pair of pins along the way.

On the boys side, Max Salvetti battled to a second place finish at 120 pounds, winning two of his three matches on the day.
