The Vikings opened the wrestling season at Estacada and got some solid performances in the action

The Colton High wrestling team got its season off and rolling Dec. 4 at the Estacada Classic.

Coach Brian Moore said he took nine kids to the tournament and had three that made the podium. Junior Nolan Earls got his season off to a fast start with a first-place finish as 195 pounds. Senior Dylan Bon Field grabbed a second-place finish in his bracket at 160 pounds, while junior Roger Moore wrestled his way to third at 152 pounds.

"The team did well, but we don't have enough kids to compete with the big schools as far as team scores go," Moore said.

Next up for the Vikings will be a Dec. 11 visit to Scio for a tournament, then on Dec. 18 they head to the North Douglas Holiday Classic.
