The Vikings, off to their best start in years, ran their record to 6-0 with a hard-fought victory over Regis

Make that 6-0 for the Colton girls basketball team after a 46-35 road win over Regis on Dec. 13. Coach Valerie Wakefield was pleased with the win. "It was a good win on the road versus a solid Regis team," Wakefield said. The action was tight early on as both teams got off to hot starts offensively, exchanging buckets for a good part of the first half. "Five first half three-pointers allowed us to build a 28-20 halftime lead," Wakefield said. COURTESY PHOTO - The Colton High girls basketball team ran its record to 6-0 with a Monday win over Regis. From there, the Vikings held off the Rams throughout the second half for the 11-point lead. Olivia Haines led the offense with 24 points and garnered 17 boards. Avery Reiland added 10 points to the effort. Wakefield also pointed to some key defensive play that helped keep Regis at bay. "We got tough defense from Dani Terry, Addison English and Hailee Hordichok, which was key in holding the Rams to just 22% shooting (from the floor)," Wakefield said.
