The Indians travel to Woodburn and win six of eight matches to open the 2022 Spring season on high note

Despite having little actual tennis court practice time so far this spring, the Molalla High girls tennis team opened with some success at Woodburn, winning six of eight matches on March 16.

Molalla High's revamped tennis courts aren't completed yet, so coach Mike Clarke and his squad are being creative in terms of early-season practices. The season-opener would seem to indicate they are adjusting pretty well.

"I was happy with the way all the girls played for our season opener," Clarke said.

The Indians snagged two singles wins and all four doubles matches against Woodburn. Ruby Burge captured her singles match with a 6-0, 6-4 win, then Ansley Nix snagged a 6-2, 5-7, 11-9 tiebreaker win in her singles outing. Molalla's Mattie Danforth fell by a 1-6, 3-6 score and Kayden Harris dropped a 0-6, 1-6 decision.
