While dodging iffy weather, the Indians defeat Woodburn, then go to sets won in loss to Stayton on April 22

Fighting with the rain and cold, the Molalla High boys tennis team snagged a win and then a tight loss in league action last week. On April 19 against Woodburn, the Indians got a singles win from Lucas Berreth (6-3, 6-4), then swept the doubles play, getting wins from Joshua Lam-Caden Cox (6-1, 6-1), Dakota Burke-Sennett Grassl (6-1, 6-0), Nico Olgoso-Jaime Ortega (6-0, 6-0), and Adam Mendoza-Michael Kyllo (6-0, 6-0).

The Herald-Pioneer. Luke Bauge was ahead in his fourth singles match by a 6-2, 3-3 score when the rains came and washed out the match. Still, the Indians won the match with five wins. Against Stayton on April 22, the Eagles won all the singles matches, Molalla all the doubles play, so the tiebreaker, counting sets won, was the tiebreaker. Stayton got the win via going 9-8 in sets won. Lam-Cox came back from a 1-6 first set loss to rally 6-3, 6-2 for the win. Also getting wins were Burke-Grassl (6-0, 6-0), Olgoso-Ortega (6-4, 6-3) and Bauge-Lucas Berreth (6-3, 6-4).
