At the Dick Baker Inv., the Molalla track team showed some potent potential for this week's district meet

Varsity performers for the Molalla High track team got their final tune-up in before the district meet with second place team finishes and plenty of individual success at the Dick Baker Invitational at Gladstone High on May 7.

Elizabeth Grandle won three individual events, but the Indian girls also got wins from Jade Naylor, Paulina Beteran Munoz, and its 4x400 relay team, as well as a host of other solid performances. For the boys, Antuan Peterson was a double winner, backed by a win from Brayden Cunningham and the 4x100 relay squad.

The Indians will go into the district meet May 13-14 with plenty of opportunity to snag places and, perhaps, state meet opportunities. This year's district meet is at Estacada. Field events start at 3 p.m. on Friday, with running events to start 45 minutes later. Saturday's action begins at 11:30 a.m.

While the boys squad has some interesting possibilities, the girls have a host of athletes either leading the conference or right near the top spots. Top two finishers at the district meet qualify for the state championships.
