Colton softballer signs college letter
By Cindy Fama
Colton High School softball player Cassidi Cohoon recently signed a National Letter of Intent to play softball as a catcher for Clark College in Vancouver, Wash.
She was joined on the college campus for the event by her parents, Sarah and Chris Cohoon, and sister Katelyn Schneider.
Cohoon has been the catcher for the Colton High softball team the past four years and added some pitching duties this year. She has also played for the tournament team NW Mayhem, of Milwaukie, the past six years. Her NW Mayhem coach, Matt Clark, set up a Field Level app for Cohoon, which is an "athletic recruiting network where coaches help their athletes find the best opportunities to play in college."
"My tournament team coach would enter all my data," Cohoon said. "The college found my stats and contacted him. He called us and it all came together."
Cohoon grew up in Colton and graduated from CHS on June 11. She has a full-time job at Valvoline in Oregon City and will continue tournament play during the summer before heading up to Vancouver.
Her plans after college graduation include moving to Central Oregon and building a career in heavy equipment sales.
