Mayor Swigart to start 'Coffee with the Mayor'
Mayor Keith Swigart will offer Molalla residents a chance to chat the first Tuesday in June when he begins a 'Coffee With the Mayor' project. He hopes residents with questions or concerns about city business will stop by for coffee and some conversation.
It will begin as a once-per-month event, but may move to twice a month later on. Swigart may also bring City Manager Dan Huff or Public Works Director Gerald Fisher along to explain events and projects in Molalla at times.
"I want to make sure that our residents' questions and concerns are heard," he told the Pioneer.
Swigart and Huff have been discussing how to get the community more involved, he said. For example, at a recent Kiwanis Club meeting, Swigart asked Huff to speak to Kiwanis members regarding the 'State of the City.' The replies on Facebook noted how much the members liked and appreciated the speech, Swigart added.
The coffees will start at 9 a.m. and probably last one or two hours, depending on attendance and questions, Swigart said.
