Saturday, June 1, in Madras

The Saturday Market opens at 9 a.m., offering vendors with everything from fresh berries and bedding plants, to handcrafted items and delicious food.

The music festival, titled “Let’s Fill the Performing Arts Center” will showcase the many talents in local communities, from student musicians and tribal dancers, to Western, Celtic, bluegrass, rock, and Latino bands.

The event is being organized the Ethos Music Center instructors, who have taught music in 509-J schools since 2011.

Some of the performers already booked include: the Box Canyon Bluegrass Band, Triur Amadan (Irish, Celtic folk), Three Quarter Short (a rock and country band), La Luna Folkloric Dancers, JCMS Jazz Band, Grupo Ritmo Caliente, The Charade, and dancers and drummers from Warm Springs.

Student musical performances will feature elementary classes singing and playing recorders, the Madras High School choir, and student dancers from Dance Arts Unlimited.
