Jefferson County School District 509-J will host a community groundbreaking celebration for the new Madras High School Performing Arts Center and Athletic Facilities this Thursday, Aug. 22, at 10 a.m. on the Madras High School football field at 390 S.E. 10th St. All community members are welcome to join in the celebration.

“We want to thank our families and neighbors for their support in making this possible,” said Jefferson County School District 509-J Superintendent Rick Molitor. “These new facilities will serve our entire community and we hope to see everyone here to help us celebrate.”

The new facilities are part of a districtwide construction plan funded by the $26.7 million school bond passed by voters in May, 2012.

Other projects also underway include construction of a new K-8 school in Warm Springs and upgrades and improvements to buildings District-wide.
