Snyder had been on job since 2011

The city of Madras is looking for a new finance director following the resignation of Kathy Snyder, of Madras, directly after an executive session Aug. 20.

Snyder, who was hired by the city on an interim basis on May 28, 2011, and became the finance director on Dec. 1, 2011, resigned effective at 5 p.m. last Tuesday.

The Madras City Council unanimously approved a severance agreement, under which she will receive earned time off, $2,000 for expenses, and three months of compensation.

City Administrator Gus Burril estimated her salary at about $65,000, and declined to comment on the reason for her resignation.

The city has already begun advertising to fill the position. In the meantime, the city has appointed Summer Sears, of Bend, as the interim finance director. Since August 2012, Sears has worked on a contract basis with the city, and currently works part time for the cities of Bend and Oakridge.

During the recruitment process, Burril said, Sears would be eligible to apply for the position.

Snyder could not be reached for comment.
