The Madras branch of Bank of the West has announced it will be closing as of Jan. 10.

Customers received letters informing them of the closure, and saying all accounts and services would automatically be transferred to the bank’s branch in The Dalles.

Debra Jack, with Bank of the West corporate communications in San Francisco, Calif., noted by email, “We want to make this transition as seamless as possible; customer account numbers will stay the same, and customers can continue to use their current checks and deposit slips as well as their current ATM, debit and credit cards. There will also be no changes to our customers’ digital services, such as online bill pay, mobile banking and remote deposit capture.”

Jack said the closure was a result of an extensive review of branch usage trends, and noted the bank was supporting employees during the change and would assist them where possible in finding other opportunities within the bank. The Madras branch of Bank of the est has five employees.

“We have enjoyed being members of the Madras community and thank our customers for their business. We look forward to continuing to be their banking partner moving forward,” Jack said.
