Dr. Dean Pesnell will be back in Madras April 18, to relive and celebrate the Aug. 21 total solar eclipse.

A key figure during the Madras celebration of the 2017 eclipse last August, Dr. Dean Pesnell, is coming back to town to relive and celebrate the solar event.

Pesnell, project scientist of the Solar Dynamics Observatory, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, will host a public event at the Madras Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, April 18. His program is titled, "That was a Marvelous Eclipse! And Madras was the Best Place to Watch!" The free event will start at 7 p.m.

An eclipse photo-sharing element will be part of the program. To inspire the public to share their photos, there will be a contest. Winners will be chosen for adult and kid (under 12) categories, and prizes will be awarded.

Pesnell gave several talks at the PAC leading up to the Aug. 21 eclipse, and was also a featured presenter at Solarfest in Madras.

His April 18 appearance will be a great opportunity to relive, review and remember the eclipse.
