St. Charles Madras to dedicate healing garden
The St. Charles Madras Healing Garden is nearly finished and the public is invited to attend a dedication ceremony on Wednesday, June 20, at 4:30 p.m.
There will be a presentation followed by a social with the campaign committee, which to date has raised $33,000 for the project.
In 2014, St. Charles Health System approved a $16 million renovation of the Madras hospital, which added 26,000 square feet to the existing building's footprint. Due to construction, the previous healing garden — named for Michelle Mertz — needed to be moved to a larger space that is more easily accessed. Her plaque will be moved to the new space once landscaping is completed.
The healing garden, the final project to complete the St. Charles Madras renovation, will feature a fountain, accent plants and trees to create a healing environment where patients, families and caregivers can quietly reflect.
