Prineville man located in Madras after fleeing Christmas morning traffic stop in Bend.

According to a Deschutes County Sheriff's Office press release, at 6:05 a.m., Christmas morning, Dec. 25, Deschutes deputies conducted a traffic stop on a gray 2016 Dodge Ram pickup truck for a traffic violation.

The driver provided false identification, but during the stop, the deputy was able to identify him on the law enforcement database as Freddy Ayala, 27, of Bend. As the deputy attempted to arrest Ayala, he sped away in his vehicle.

Deputies and Bend police officers pursued Ayala for several blocks until the pursuit was discontinued in the interest of public safety. Seeking information from the public, officers noted the suspect had his last name, "Ayala," tattooed on the back of his neck.

On Dec. 27, Ayala was located in Madras by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, and was lodged in the Jefferson County Correctional Facility.

Ayala was scheduled for a probation violation status check hearing on Dec. 31, in Jefferson County Circuit Court.
