Three new faces join air show board
The Airshow of the Cascades captivates audiences at the Madras Municipal Airport in late August, but the air show's board of directors, various committees, and hundreds of volunteers are at work behind the scenes year-round.
This week, the board has announced the addition of three new board members: Dr. Ben Ochs, Nick Snead and Belinda Goody.
The trio joins the following on the board: President Joe Krenowicz, Vice President Bruce Hoyt, Secretary-Treasurer Rick Allen, Rob Berg, Tom Brown, Mark Carman, Margaret Kincaid, air show founder Ron Ochs, Judy Solso, Melanie Widmer and emeritus member Don Mobley.
Ben Ochs has had a lifetime of involvement with the air show since its inception on his family's farm in the 1970s. He often travels from Portland to attend air show committee meetings and he and his family are hands-on volunteers each year during the air show, enabling its integrity and legacy to remain intact.
Snead, the director of the Madras Community Development Department, has been an air show volunteer for the past four years. He has worked in parking management for the show and will oversee that element of the event.
Goody is retired Air Force and an experienced event evaluator, planner and director who moved to Central Oregon in 2016. She came on board in May 2018 as assistant air show coordinator and was formally contracted in October 2018 as air show producer through Fest Eval LLC.
"We have an outstanding team of people who are committed to bringing the best possible experience to our air show patrons. We look forward to seeing everyone on Aug. 23 and 24," said Krenowicz.
