Air show seeks volunteer dinner coordinator
The Airshow of the Cascades is looking for a local person who will take on the task of coordinating its annual Friday night fish and chips dinner.
Anyone who has attended the Airshow of the Cascades on a Friday night has witnessed guests enjoying the popular, annual tradition, which has grown to about 800 meals each year. Started back in the early years of the show, its popularity speaks for its importance to the annual event held at the Madras Municipal Airport.
"The ideal person or couple is not afraid to get their hands dirty, assuming the leadership of this project," said Rick Allen, who has coordinated the event since its inception.
"They would work with groups and volunteers to serve the food, collect the money and be in charge during the event," he said. "In the past, Payne West Insurance team has played a huge role in frying the fish."
"It is lots of fun. People from all over Oregon anxiously await this aspect of the air show each year; I find that rewarding," noted Allen.
Anybody interested is asked to call Allen at 541-815-4380. The goal is to identify the person or person, in order to work with them, so they are ready to go for the 2019 show, he added.
