Reid, Gassner both finalists for judgeship
Two Madras attorneys are among three finalists for the pending circuit court judgeship for the Jefferson-Crook County circuit.
Gov. Kate Brown is expected to choose between finalists Tim Gassner and Jered Reid, both of Madras, and Victoria Moffett, a Bend resident, who practices law in Prineville. Reid also has an office in Prineville and is that city's attorney.
The finalists were noted on the Oregon Bar Assocation website Osbar.org.
The vacancy will be created when current Presiding Judge Daniel Ahern retires March 31. Ahern plans to continue to serve on the bench for at least a few weeks until his replacement is ready to start in the position.
Judgeships that become open due to retirements or vacancies created by reasons other than an election are filled by governor appointment. Otherwise, judge positions are determined by voters.
