Friends and Neighbors of the Deschutes Canyon Area plan work day on Steelhead Falls Trail.

PHOTO BY MARTY WILSON - Friends and Neighbors of the Deschutes Canyon Area and other volunteers will clean up the Steelhead Falls Trail from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20.In recognition of Earth Day, Friends and Neighbors of the Deschutes Canyon Area are planning a cleanup or work day at the Steelhead Falls Trail, near Crooked River Ranch, on April 20.

Recreationists that treasure Steelhead Falls and the surrounding public lands have a great opportunity to join FANs volunteers for a stewardship project to celebrate Earth Day.

Volunteers can choose the type of work they want to do: cleaning up the trail and campground, eliminating invasive weeds, restoring rock boundaries, planting native seeds and plants, closing user-created trails, or collecting large boulders for use on trail restoration.

Families are welcome, as there will be work that all ages can do.

The Earth Day Stewardship Project will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., which allows participants to determine how many hours they want to volunteer. Participants can sign up at
