"I can confirm that Dawsyn Rose Rhett, a female infant of approximately 4 months old, who resided in Oregon City, sustained fatal injuries at the Madras Speedway on July 6, 2019," wrote Jefferson County District Attorney Steve Leriche. "The baby was transported by air for medical treatment and died in Portland on July 7, 2019. The investigation of the baby's death is in its early stages, and if anyone saw anything at the Madras Speedway regarding this baby and her caretakers, please contact the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office at 541- 475-6520."

In the first day, the fundraising page raised $3,815 (as of July 9), with the goal of raising $5,000. By Thursday, the goal had been exceeded and was increased to $8,000; 88 people had donated.
