From Aug. 16 to Sept. 30, JCSO will participate in extra seat belt and traffic safety enforcement.

HOLLY M. GILL/MADRAS PIONEER - The JCSO will spend extra time enforcing seat belt and distracted driver laws from Aug. 16 to Sept. 30.The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office will be participating in a seat belt and traffic safety blitz from Aug. 16 to Sept. 30.

The sheriff's office will provide regular and overtime seat belt and cell phone enforcement to reduce distracted driving accidents and deaths.

The overtime enforcement is funded by the Oregon Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Oregon State Sheriffs' Association.
