Music in two locations, exhibit opening, activities, podcast ready for event.

HOLLY M. GILL/MADRAS PIONEER - Don't miss the last Madras Park and Play First Thursday event, set for Oct. 3, in downtown Madras. Like the September event, the upcoming event will feature music, activities and lots of community involvement.Bundle up for the Madras Downtown Association's final First Thursday Park and Play, set for Thursday, from 5-8 p.m.

The event, the last of six, which got underway in May, will center around Fifth and D streets, in downtown Madras. A community crane decorating station will be set up, for visitors to add their comments to decorative paper that will be turned into origami cranes for a December display at Art Adventure Gallery.

From 5:30-7 p.m., Art Adventure Gallery will hold its opening reception for Andrea Calk's XO Andi exhibit of "intentionally abstract" art.

Also during the event, the Cardiac Science Corp. will be at Madras Computers, where 3 Peaks Crossfit will be doing a live podcast, featuring Jefferson County Emergency Medical Services and Jefferson County Fire Department. The Cardiac Science Corp. will be presenting the communities with a portable AED — automated external defibrillator.

Both the Hideaway Alley and Dancing Bean will also have music throughout the event, with Trent Beaver at the Alley and The Substitutes at Dancing Bean.
