Welches woman dies in Highway 26 crash
A 73-year-old Welches woman died in a crash on Highway 26 Monday.
At about 11:40 a.m., Oregon State Police and emergency personnel responded to the crash near milepost 85 west of Warm Springs.
In their preliminary investigation, police found that a white Mercedes Benz SUV driven by Kathy Rayborn, 73, of Welches, was traveling east when the SUV crossed into the westbound lanes and collided with a motorhome being driven by Richard Rydman, 76, of Vancouver.
He and his passenger, Janice Rydman, were taken to St. Charles Madras.
Rayborn sustained fatal injuries.
OSP was assisted by the Warm Springs Police Department, Warm Springs Fire and Rescue and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
The highway was closed in both directions until about 4 p.m.
