17-year-old charged with DUII in fatal crash
A 17-year-old has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in a Tuesday morning crash that killed another man.
Christopher Dorale Johnson, 20, of Madras, died at the scene. The three others in the vehicle, including the driver, were taken by Jefferson County Emergency Medical Services to St. Charles Redmond.
The crash, which happened at about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, involved a single vehicle that went off the roadway on Northwest Columbia Drive near Fir Lane north of Madras.
The car damaged a power line and came to rest on its top in a field.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office investigated the crash with help from the Oregon State Police and the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office.
The occupants of the vehicle were cooperating with the investigation, according to Undersheriff Marc Heckathorn.
Jefferson County Fire District No. 1 also assisted, and the Jefferson County Public Works Department closed the road.
