No one was injured in a fire at the Madras Sonic Drive-In just after midnight Wednesday.

According to a media release from Jefferson County Fire District No. 1, crews were dispatched to a fire at the fast-food restaurant on Fourth Street in north Madras at 12:27 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6. Smoke and fire were coming from inside the building.

Fire crews accessed the building and extinguished the fire.

The media release said the fryer had caught fire. The fire system was activated but did not extinguish the fire. Fire crews made access to the roof to check for extensions. Crews remained on scene for more than an hour.

The damaged fryer was a total loss. There was also smoke damage and damage to the hood system. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Madras Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, and Jefferson County Emergency Medical Services were also on scene to assist.
