Vehicle crashes and catches fire
A driver was injured when a vehicle crashed and caught fire at Highway 26 and Cherry Lane north of Madras Monday afternoon.
According to a media release from Jefferson County Fire District No. 1, crews were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash at 3:09 p.m. April 26, and the vehicle was on fire.
Fire crews arrived to find a single occupant out of the vehicle with injuries. Jefferson County Emergency Medical Services personnel assisted the patient, who was transported to the hospital.
Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire and nearby trees that had caught fire. They remained on the scene until the tow company arrived.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Jefferson County Undersheriff Marc Heckathorn reported that Highway 26 was closed at Cherry Lane in both directions for a short time.
