MADRAS PIONEER - Members of the group Countryfied perform during the First Thursday event in Madras June 3.

Hundreds of people turned out downtown Madras to celebrate First Thursday on June 3.

This is the first time the Madras Downtown Business Association has been able to hold the event since coronavirus prevention restrictions went into effect.

Several vendors displayed their wares, bands colored the atmosphere with music, and the City of Madras inaugurated its free-for-all graffiti wall.

Organizer Angela Rhodes was overwhelmed by community participation. "It's amazing!"

The season will continue with events on July 1, Aug. 5 and Sept. 2.
