High-speed chase ends in tasing and arrest
Jefferson County Sheriff's Office deputies and Madras Police officers were led on a high-speed pursuit of a stolen pickup from Madras to the area of Pelton Dam Road Saturday morning, July 31, before the pursuit was terminated due to public safety concerns.
Court documents report the chase reaching speeds of 88 mph.
A report from Jefferson County Sheriff Sgt. Ryan Grote says the stolen pickup was later located off Disney Road. With help from Oregon State Police, Warm Springs Police, and the Central Oregon Emergency Response Team, the 32-year-old male suspect, Jansen Harrington, of Madras, was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit near Disney Road and Pelton Dam Road.
Harrington sustained minor injuries from being tased and was eventually lodged at the Jefferson County Jail on an outstanding felony warrant out of Jefferson County.
He was arrested on charges of unauthorized use of a vehicle, attempt to elude police officers, second-degree burglary, and first-criminal mischief.
The Madras Police Department is the lead investigating agency in the stolen motor vehicle case.
