The new food court will offer Mexican, Korean and sushi food options in downtown Madras

 - Reynoso Food Court is nearing completion and will offer Mexican, Korean and sushi at the corner of Southwest Fifth and Southwest D streets in Madras.

The opening of Reynoso Food Court is getting closer.

Owners are awaiting final inspections but hope to be open in early August.

Burrito Loco will serve Mexican food, and Imonae will offer Korean fare. Blanca Reynoso said the third spot will most likely be open in September, serving sushi.

Israel and Blanca Reynoso, who own Reynoso Jewelry next door, are developing the lot at the corner of Fifth and D streets in downtown Madras into a permanent structure with three commercial kitchens and a restroom, along with outdoor seating.

They changed the name from Reynoso Food Cart to Reynoso Food Court.

"We're going away from the cart name because they're not officially carts, which is what we had originally thought," Blanca explained, noting that they are working on signage.

Burrito Loco and Imonae will have food booths outside during the First Thursday event this Thursday evening, Aug. 5.

The Reynosos have owned the lot since 1998. They secured a package with loans and grants from the Madras Redevelopment Commission in order to develop the property, fondly known as Sunshine Corner.

They will have a soft opening this month and plan a grand opening and ribbon cutting when the sushi vendor is ready to go – probably early September.
