The Latino Community Association has canceled the Saturday, Sept. 11 cultural celebration because of increased COVID-19 cases in the region

PHOTO COURTESY OF LATINO COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION - The Latino Community Association has canceled the Saturday, Sept. 11 Latino Fest in Madras as a result of increased COVID-19 cases in Central Oregon.

The Latino Community Association has canceled its annual Latino Fest, which was planned for 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11 at Sahalee Park in Madras.

The Latino Community Association released this statement: "Due to the continued increase in COVID-19 cases in Central Oregon and with a commitment to take care of our community members, volunteers and staff, our cultural event has been canceled. Wear a mask, keep social distancing, stay healthy!"

The free, family-oriented annual Latino American heritage celebration was going to includes live music, dancing, food, a community resource fair, pinatas, prizes and games for kids. COVID-19 vaccines and testing services were to be offered.
