Jefferson County Sheriff Marc Heckathorn swore in a new patrol deputy, Brandon Talbott, on Sept. 1.

Talbott is a 17-year veteran of the Washington County Sheriff's Office. He has worked as a deputy, detective and corporal for WCSO.

Talbott served his country in the Navy out of high school and is married with two sons. His oldest is enlisted in the Navy, and his youngest is a freshman in high school. Talbott is a rancher and cowboy and is looking forward to enjoying all that Central Oregon has to offer as a full-time resident.

He is coming from a much larger agency but believes in service and putting people first. Heckathorn said these traits will serve him well here.

Talbott has begun his field training and will be cleared for solo patrols within the next two to three months.
