The six-week online workshop is part of the Your Health Central Oregon campaign

The Crook, Deschutes and Jefferson County health departments are offering Living Well with Chronic Pain, a six-week, online class.

The workshop is from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. each Wednesday, Oct. 6 through Nov. 3.

It is designed to help people living with chronic pain to gain the confidence and motivation to better manage symptoms and the day-to-day challenges of living with chronic pain. By developing self-management skills, participants will be empowered to actively achieve better health and well-being.

Participants will learn techniques and tools to help: manage frustration, fatigue, isolation and poor sleep; identify appropriate exercise for maintaining and improving strength, flexibility and endurance; effective use of medications; communicate successfully with family, friends and health professionals; eat nutritious foods; pace activity and rest; and evaluate new treatments.

An information session is from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29.

There is a $10 material fee for the series. Financial assistance is available.

The workshop is part of the Your Health Central Oregon campaign.
