The walk-up food court features sushi, Korean and Mexican food at Sunshine Corner in downtown Madras

 - Israel and Blanca Reynoso celebrate the ribbon cutting of their new business, Reynoso Food Court, as guests cheer them on.

Israel and Blanca Reynoso hosted a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Madras-Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce at their new Reynoso Food Court on Friday afternoon, Oct. 22.

The walk-up food court features sushi, Korean and Mexican food at Sunshine Corner at Fifth and D streets in downtown Madras. The court invites visitors to sit at the colorful tables and benches and enjoy the pavilion, which will be heated on cool nights and during the winter months.

The restaurants have all opened recently in the new venue. Zhenchang Ye owns Akira Sushi, Jin Park owns Imonae Korean Restaurant, and Hector Galan owns El Burrito Loco.

The celebration included an introduction from Chamber Director Joe Krenowicz and comments from City of Madras Community Development Director Nicholas Snead. There was a buffet table with samplings from the three restaurants, beverages, music and, of course, the sound of giant scissors slicing through the gold ribbon.

"This is a great day that has been three years in the making," Snead said. "This is exactly what our community told us they wanted."

"This has been a blessing from God," Blanca Reynoso said.
