Overheating car ignites on Highway 26, blocking traffic, extinguished quickly by fire and EMS

Monday morning, Nov. 15, Jefferson County Fire District No. 1, along with EMS and police, responded to a vehicle fire on Highway 26 between mileposts 100 and 110.

Firefighters arrived on the scene to an engulfed Chevy Silverado blocking a lane of traffic. Emergency vehicles then blocked the entire highway.

The fire crew quickly extinguish the fire.

The occupants state they were headed up the grade, heard a pop and then saw fire from the engine.

No one was injured.
