Veteran's Day in Madras began with a tribute ceremony at the Jefferson County Community Center. Speakers included Leonard Hellwig, Richard Lohmam and Shawn Stanfill. The event focused on remembering those we have lost, and honoring the veterans that have served.

After this event, a parade took place around Sahalee park. "I appreciate the parade so much, I love to see the community support, especially the kids," said Steve Rogers, Madras resident and veteran.

After the parade, veterans and their families gathered at the Jefferson County community center to celebrate their service and raise awareness for the 22 veterans we lose each day to suicide. After hearing from local advocate Shawn Stanfill on the importance of supporting veterans, local musician Mark Mobley and band Countryfried played while guests mingled and enjoyed hot dogs. "It's important to remember today, and every day how much our veterans have given for us," said Leonard Hellwig.
