Wild chase down Highway 97 ends in arrest
Wednesday, Jan. 12, at about 1:30 p.m. Madras Police responded to a call about a disruptive customer at the Madras Dairy Queen.
Dispatch advised officers the vehicle had been reported stolen.
Sergeant Mel Brown reports when officers attempted to contact the driver, he fled hitting a Madras patrol car causing minor damage.
Madras Police and Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies followed the suspect south on Highway 97.
Reports on police radio described the driver straying into the northbound lane, northbound traffic pulling to the shoulder to avoid him.
With assistance from Deschutes County Sheriff's Office and Oregon State Police, officers stopped the vehicle and took driver Brandon Godfrey, 28, into custody without further incident.
Godfrey faces charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, reckless endangering, reckless driving, and attempting to elude police.
His booking report also notes a Deschutes County warrant for fourth degree assault, and notes Godfrey admits to using methamphetamines and fentanyl.
