The town stays open late with food, music, and shopping, and a bouncy house for the kids

Assuming recent history repeats itself, downtown Madras will be hopping Thursday evening.

The second First Thursday event of the season takes place in downtown Madras Thursday, June 2, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. or whenever it gets dark.

The Madras Downtown Business Association has lined up Kristi Kinsey and the Whiskey Bandits to provide music for the evening.

Food trucks will join brick and mortar restaurants to provide the food.

Between 20 and 25 vendors will display their wares to the crowds that gather.

Shop owners on Fifth Street between D and B Streets will keep their stores open into the evening hours.

Windermere Realty at Fifth and B Streets will host a bouncy house for children. Also, the National Guard is bringing in a Stryker, an eight-wheeled armor vehicle for kids to explore.

Madras First Thursdays will continue the first Thursday of each month between June and September.
