The Community Event will be held Saturday, August 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Sahalee Park in Madras. The event will provide a variety of resources, services and entertainment for the community.

"Our heart is there to love on the community," said organizer Gary Buss. "It's really a thank-you back to community, who they are and what they do."

The Community Event in Madras this year will be the 14th annual, and is a project of Faith in Action, a coalition of local churches.

After missing 2020 due to COVID, they're ready to get back to serving the almost 4,000 people they usually see at the event, and provide them with much-needed social support services, entertainment and community.

This year, services will include medical and dental visits, vision and hearing screenings, auto and veterinary services, bicycle maintenance, haircuts, clothes and family photos.

The event will also have a kid's corner with inflatables, crafts and kids' activities like face painting and balloon art, as well as live music and free food and drink in the park.

The entire event, as well as all services, activities and food is free, and open to anyone. For more on Community Event, see the advertisement on page 12.
