A fire broke out in a single-family mobile home on State Highway 361 around 3:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14. The fire was reported by a vehicle driving by and was unoccupied at the time.

The Jefferson County Fire & EMS responded and were able to keep the fire from spreading to surrounding buildings and residences. They were inhibited by large debris piles and storage located near the house. The mobile home at 1610 Culver Highway in Madras was a total loss.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and the owner or occupant of the property has not been identified.
