Run help

To the Editor,

We would like to thank Erickson’s Thriftway (Dan and Dawn) for donating oranges every year to the Todd Beamer Memorial Run.

Plus, we’d also like to thank Identity Zone (Kelly Simmelink) for shirts, Chuck Patterson for the ribbons, Lonnie Henderson for timing, the MAC (Carolyn Harvey and Tyler Larrea) and all of our routine volunteers who help make our operation so much easier.

We’d also like to thank all of our dedicated participants for entering the event every year. Everyone’s efforts are so very much appreciated. Looking forward to seeing everyone again next year.

Local work

To the Editor,

We are on the verge of another large project in Jefferson County, the 509-J project — millions of dollars involved.

As a lifelong resident, a home owner, taxpayer, and employee of a local small business, I hope the (contractor) decides to hire local talent to to provide the equipment and labor for these projects.

But, after watching the COCC, the City Hall, and the immigrant farmerworkers’ housing projects, and most of the Madras Aquatic Center, I’m sure our community will once again send all our tax money to Deschutes County.
