Biden wins Demo poll, Sanders second
Jefferson County Fair was a wonderful free family fun event this year and the Jefferson County Democrats were pleased to be able to take part in the event.
At our booth, we ran a very unscientific poll to see which of the 25 candidates for the Democratic party running for the office of president the people of Jefferson County would like to see run.
While many said there were so many running they had not yet decided who was a top contender, many others did vote by putting a blue bean in for their first choice and a red bean for their second choice. Blue beans were worth two points, and the red were worth one point.
Top candidates were: Joe Biden with 126 points, Bernie Sanders with 116, Elizabeth Warren with 86, Kamala Harris with 78, Pete Buttigieg with 71, and Julian Castro with 17. We encourage everyone to keep informed about the issues, the many candidates, and be ready to vote for the future of our country.

Local GOP outlines reasons for recalling governor
I would like to extend a big thank you to all of the thousand and more people who stopped by the Jefferson County Republican booth at our county fair last week to sign the petition to recall Gov. Kate Brown.
Kate's latest political chicanery involved last-minute changing of the wording on the gross receipts sales tax in order to thwart the initiative to undo it. We voted this sales tax down just about three years ago, but she doesn't want to listen to the people's voice.
Among the many other reasons she should be removed from office are:
Overturning the will of the voters by granting driver's licenses to illegal aliens.
Denying citizens the right to fully protect themselves as guaranteed by the constitutions of both our state and our nation.
Denying citizens protection from the growing terrorist threat known as Antifa.
Attempting to deprive Oregon's working families of jobs using faulty environmental policy.
Attempting to deprive Oregon's families of their right of medical and religious freedom.
Failing to address the PERS crisis that threatens the economy and government retirees.
Failing to protect Oregon's foster children and failing to cooperate with investigations of their abuse.
Using taxpayer money to launch frivolous million-dollar, politically-motivated lawsuits.
Repeatedly using the "emergency clause" on nonemergency legislation, thereby denying the voters of Oregon the right to their voice of dissent.
For those who would still like to sign the recall petition, we will have a table at Burgers and Politics at McPherson Park in Crooked River on Aug. 10, and again at the Crawdad Festival in Culver on Aug. 17.
